World Alzheimer’s Month

World Alzheimer’s month is a campaign that happens every September to raise awareness and challenge the stigma about dementia. This year will mark the 7th World Alzheimer’s Month. This campaign was launched in 2012 of September 21 which also makes it the World Alzheimer’s Day.

“2 out of every 3 people globally believe there is little or no understanding of dementia in their countries. The impact of World Alzheimer’s Month is growing, but the stigmatisation and misinformation that surrounds dementia remains a global problem, that requires global action.” – alz.co.uk

Acne Awareness Month 2018

Acne affects 90% of teens and up to 1 in 5 women around the world.

“The Acne and Rosacea Society of Canada has just launched “Skin Confident”, a 1-hour, healthy skin and acne education program for Canadian high school students with proven, positive results.”

Skin Confident is a program that is freely available for school nurses, teachers and anyone interested in presenting it to high school students in Canada.

“It appears there is no formal teaching about acne at high schools despite the fact that about 90% of students have it,” says Dr. Jason Rivers, Vancouver dermatologist and president of the society. “This is particularly concerning since acne has been shown to affect self-esteem and may cause significant emotional distress.

International Overdose Awareness day!

When? August 31st 2018

International Overdose Awareness Day is an event that happens globally on August 31st of every year to bring awareness to drug related deaths and to raise awareness to drug overdose.

This day is also an awareness to family members who have lost their loved ones or occurred permanent injuries as a result of drug overdosing.

There wasn’t any white light. I didn’t make out Jesus or see my dead family members. It was just oblivion and it was very frightening.

Here is a video about drug overdose and how to find symptoms in someone who might be overdosing.

It’s World Humanitarian Day!

“Around the world, conflict is forcing record numbers of people from their homes, with over 65 million people now displaced. Children are recruited by armed groups and used to fight. Women are abused and humiliated. As humanitarian workers deliver aid and medical workers provide for those in need, they are all too often targeted or treated as threats.” — UN Secretary-General, António Guterres

World Humanitarian day is held every August 19th to tribute all the aid workers who risk their lives to help other people around the world.

People all over the world struggle everyday to find food and clean water, something we take for granted as we have that everyday. This day is also to remember others who don’t have what we have as a daily necessity. Every life matters and no child or adult deserves to sleep with hunger. The awareness is out there but what are we doing to make things better as a person and as a nation in whole.

International Youth Day! August 12th

August 12th is International Youth day. It was first initiated in August 12th 1999 by the General Assembly of the United Nations to create awareness for cultural and legal issues surrounding our youth.

There are currently 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 10 and 24 in the world. This is the largest youth population ever. But 1 in 10 of the world’s children live in conflict zones and 24 million of them are out of school. Political instability, labour market challenges and limited space for political and civic participation have led to increasing isolation of youth in societies.”              – United Nations.

ref: http://www.un.org/en/events/youthday/

“The hopes of the world rest on young people. Peace, economic dynamism, social justice, tolerance — all this and more, today and tomorrow, depends on tapping into the power of youth.” — UN Secretary-General António Guterres

Our youth need places that are safe for them to get together, participate in activities which interests them and their needs. Make decisions free and express themselves. Places such as public where our youth could participate in sports and other leisure activities within their community. Online spaces where they can virtually interact with others around the world and civic places where they can engage in government issues. These safe places will encourage our youth to be more active and express themselves in a much better way.

Getting to know a little bit about our order forms

At Power Plus, we pride ourselves in making our products with the highest grade of quality and engineering which in turn gives a new kind of ability to someone who has a disability. Time is a major factor when a client is in need of a wheelchair. We are trying to get that process a little easier by constantly working with our order forms, cheat sheets and literature for our distributors. We are constantly trying to improve our products and services for our devoted users and distributors.

How can you assure you have the up to date version of the order form?

All our order forms are regulated and created through one source. The order forms are then updated on the website first. They carry a few security features that make it easy for you to figure out if you have the up to date forms with correct pricing and codes.  A revision date is added to the bottom of the order form. This date changes with any new changes done to the order form. The rule of thumb is, if the date is newer than the one you might have. Please replace it with the new version.

Order forms can get confusing as new features are added or when a change is made for better usability and durability of the product. We are constantly listening to you, making changes and updating our forms in a regular basis as we come up with creative ways to make things easy when you order from us.

We are also currently working on an online order form which is currently under testing and tweaking process. We will update you as soon as its available.

Below are a few new features added to order forms as of July 25, 2018 for your convenience and clarification.

  • Frame Colour: All our folding and tilting wheelchairs come with an option for custom colours. These colours are not limited, which means you can give us a specific colour code and we can have the chair customized to that colour. The upcharge for this is only an additional $400.

  • Our STP tilt wheelchair now has two no charge colours added (Burgundy and Blue) to our list of standard colours.

  • Ordering a custom back on our wheelchairs just got a bit easier. Simply choose from one of the back choice and fill out the custom width and height that you require.

  • Our RELAX Form, Snug and Spiral Back now has 16, 18 and 20 as standard heights and all other heights are custom.

  • Pin options on the back are now ¾” Standard and a charge of $40 for 1” Long Pins

  • All back order forms now reflect the same changes done to the custom backs in the Wheelchair Order Forms.

Got any other suggestions on our forms? Feel free to contact us via email at feedback@powerplusmobility.org with your input. We are always happy to hear your feedback!
