There are right now 1.8 billion youngsters between the ages of 10 and 24 on the planet. This is the biggest youth population ever recorded. However, majority of all children and adolescents aged 6-14 lack fundamental reading and math skills, even though most of them are attending school. This worldwide learning emergency takes steps to seriously hamper advance towards the SDGs.
12 August was first assigned International Youth Day by the UN General Assembly in 1999 and fills in as a yearly festival of the role of youngsters as fundamental partners in change, and a chance to bring awareness of difficulties and issues confronting the world’s youth.
